I started learning about the anatomy of teeth at the age of 13, when I was studying to become a dental technician in Italy. After receiving my dental technician diploma at 18, I moved to UK to continue my studies. I graduated with a degree in Biomedicine in 2023 and I am now studying for a Master’s degree.
I have a huge passion in helping people to feel better, and I love being able to share this on a daily basis with our patients at our clinic in Moorgate.
Away from work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking and reading.”
Our Moorgate dental studio is unlike your traditional dentist. We are located in a modern office building with friendly staff to greet you and make you feel comfortable upon your arrival. We know that visiting the dentist can sometimes be an anxiety inducing experience, so our team are doing their best to combat any worries. In Moorgate, we have three fully equipped modern Dental Pods. Our Pod 2 has an amazing view of the army barracks grounds, and if you’re lucky you may be able to see the army force helicopter land.

I am a Specialist Endodontist with over 10 years experience in the field. From a very young age I was interested in Medicine, inspired by a family member who was a Cardiologist. When I was 16 I chose to study Dentistry and never thought of doing anything else. After graduation I decided to study Endodontics because of the precise and defined nature of treatments, where I can apply advanced cutting edge technology. I find Endodontics particulary rewarding, when I am able to save teeth and take patients out of pain bringing happiness back to their lives.
Dr Ilze Der Merwe joined Smilepod as our first South African dentist so far and has quickly become exceptionally popular. Ilze has been practising dentistry for over ten years and still never tires of taking training and new courses. Ilze recently won the record for the most Invisalign cases out of all our Smilepod dentists. She is passionate about both cosmetic and restorative dentistry and will always go the extra mile for her clients. Ilze is available at Moorgate on Wednesdays and Fridays and she also works in our Canary Wharf studio.

Hi, I’m Devi, and I hail from Nepal, the home of the majestic Mt. Everest. My journey as a Dental Nurse began in 2019, and it’s a path I’ve never looked back from. In 2023, I had the pleasure of joining the Smilepod Moorgate team, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to my profession thanks to the wonderful people I work with.
If I were to pinpoint the most fulfilling aspect of my job, it’s undoubtedly the opportunity to care for our patients and ensure they feel comfortable from the moment they step into our practice until they leave. Establishing this rapport with our dentists is another source of satisfaction, as it enables us to work seamlessly as a team and deliver the best possible experience to our patients.
Outside of my professional life, I’m an avid hiker who loves exploring the great outdoors. I also have a passion for trying out various types of cuisine and, most importantly, I relish spending quality time with my church family.

Hi, I’m Simone, originally hailing from Brazil. I have proudly served as a Dental Nurse at Smilepod since March 2022. My journey in the world of dental nursing commenced when I was just 17, and it’s a role that resonates with me naturally.
I would describe myself as a kind, helpful, and understanding individual. Caring for our patients and addressing their needs comes as second nature to me. I take immense pride in ensuring that our patients feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed within our clinic.
My job brings me immense joy, as it means I get to work alongside a diverse team of specialists and engage with wonderful people on a daily basis. What truly warms my heart in my current role is witnessing the profound impact that dentistry can have on someone’s life, especially when restorative treatments help self-conscious patients regain their confidence.
Beyond the practice, I savour socializing and cherish moments spent with family and friends. You can often find me at church, whipping up delightful dishes in the kitchen, unwinding, or embarking on adventures to discover exciting new places.

From Moorgate Underground Smilepod is a 3 minute walk. Use exit marked Moorfields, London Wall & Barbican Centre. On exit turn right and cross the road and take the 2nd left cut through. Walk towards Pret which will be on your left hand side and past a news stand on your right. Pass between the City Point buildings you will see Wagamama on your left. When you emerge turn left, and then immediately right at the tall Heron building into Moor Lane. Continue along Moor Lane and you will see 24 Chiswell St in front of you and also Tesco Express. Enter the building, Smilepod is on the ground floor pass the lifts on the right and is well signposted.
