Dr Ana Polidoro – Dentist

  • I see lots of nervous clients and whenever you ask why they are scared 90% of the time it’s due to a bad experience as a child. It’s a matter of taking the chance on us and we can give you a positive experience. Dentistry has changed so much over the years so it won’t be as bad as you think.

Hi, I’m Ana one of Smilepod’s dentists. I’ve worked for Smilepod for five years although I did some cover dentistry for a different location ten years ago. I began my career working in Brazil then moved to London about 13 years ago.

I’ve been fascinated by dentistry since I was 10 years old and had an accident and broke my teeth. At the time I had to go back and forth to the dentists’ lots of time and they thought it was unlikely I would be able to keep my teeth. It sounds scary but I was really interested in how things worked in dentistry and teeth. Due to the skill of the dentist, I was able to keep my teeth so my dentist inspired me to go down this path.

Smilepod Bank is a great place to work in. it is friendly and positive and everyone focusses on providing top-quality care and preventing problems. I am especially interested in educating clients on prevention. Prevention is so much better than cure. Most dental problems don’t cause symptoms. For example, people are not aware of decay or cavities until later stages. Gum disease is a silent killer. If we catch this early we can stop it progressing. As a dentist, I can see these problems and stop them in their tracks Most problems won’t give you pain. We want to stop it at the early stages. That’s why attending your check-ups is so important to the health of your teeth
If I could give my clients one piece of advice it would be to focus on your oral hygiene. Oral hygiene is key, get into the habit of flossing, regular cleans, checkups and limit sugar

Dr Veronica De Zan – Dentist

  • Our profession is extremely challenging and rewarding. The opportunity to relieve pain and suffering is a rare privilege and changing a person`s life by creating a beautiful, healthy smile is one of the intangible rewards of being a dentist that can’t be measured..

Hi, I’m Veronica. and I’m one of Smilepod’s dentists. Since I was young I was drawn to care-taking and taking care of people. Looking into different kind of health careers at first I thought to become a doctor but I found that the draw of cosmetic care was more rewarding to me.

After more than 10 years of my dental career, I am really happy and I love my work. I can`t think of anything I would rather be doing than dentistry.

Our profession is extremely challenging and rewarding. The opportunity to relieve pain and suffering is a rare privilege and changing a person`s life by creating a beautiful, healthy smile is one of the intangible rewards of being a dentist that can’t be measured.

I provide all kind of treatments focusing on each patient oral health requirements, fears, anxieties as well as their expectations. I heard to my patients first so we can discuss together the most suitable treatment plan.

I have done postgraduate training in Prosthodontics, Dental Implants, Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign to be able to advise and treat my patients with the best of my knowledge.

Dr Glaucia Minei – Dentist

  • I have a lot of clients who are quite phobic of dentists in general if you are worried I will work very hard to put you at your ease. I am passionate about making dentistry efficient and convenient but also gentle and non threatening.

Hi, my name is Glaucia and I am one of the many Brazilian dentists you will find at Smilepod. I am one of the first dentists ever to join the Smilepod team many years ago! My philosophy is to create a relaxing experience when you come to see me as your dentist. I have a lot of clients who are quite phobic of dentists in general if you are worried I will work very hard to put you at your ease. I am passionate about making dentistry efficient and convenient but also gentle and non-threatening. Cosmetic work including whitening, straightening and Botox my favourite things to do.

The greatest thing about working at Smilepod is the very caring and well-trained team without the feeling of a traditional scary dental surgery. The ambience is very different from any other places I have worked, very enjoyable and helpful- this is the main reason I have worked for this company for so long and believe is also why my clients are always coming back

Agnieszka Wyrostek – Bank Manager

  • If you want to look after your teeth drink more water as it is great for your teeth. Have a balanced diet and good oral health care.

Hi, I’m Agni and I have been the manager here at Bank since 2015. I began my career at Smilepod working as a dental nurse. I joined the team 6 years ago and working alongside Dr Raj our specialist orthodontist. I’ve lived in London for ten years now despite only planning to come to improve my English!

I decided to go into dental nursing after becoming friends with a dentist who told me about the clinical side. It’s now been 8 years!

I like lots of things about working at Smilepod. Everyone is very friendly and passionate about their job. There are lots of different cultures and languages and it feels like a family. We really care about each other and our clients. Bank studio, in particular, is a great location. We are right by Leadenhall Market which is a treat for a Harry Potter fan. The market is amazing and there are loads of places to go out in the evening. There is Sky Garden nearby, Tower Bridge is my favourite place, the tower of London all of these are walking distance. You are never bored there is an amazing atmosphere here

If I could give clients one piece of advise it would be try using a straw when drinking. It will help to limit the damage if you like sparkling and fizzy drinks. These drinks are both sugary and acidic so it is much better to drink through a straw to minimise contact with your teeth and damage. You could also eat some cheese to neutralize the effect and it goes well with wine.

If you want to look after your teeth drink more water as it is great for your teeth. Have a balanced diet and good oral health care.

Summer Simon– Dental Nurse

As a dental nurse I am here to help the dentist and to make you feel comfortable so if you have any questions don’t be nervous to ask. We are here to care for you.

Hi, I am Sana and I’ve just recently joined Smilepod. I’m from Trinidad originally but have been in London for 15 years. I went into dentistry in 2017. I’ve always been interested in social care and helping people look after themselves so dentistry seemed a good fit.

My best piece of advice for clients would be to try swapping chocolate for another snack. If you love sugary sweets just reduce the frequency and occasionally try swapping them for something like popcorn. It’s still a nice snack but will cause less damage and saves on calories – win-win

As a dental nurse I am here to help the dentist and to make you feel comfortable so if you have any questions don’t be nervous to ask. We are here to care for you.

My brushing tips would be to make sure you brush for at least 2 minutes as even something as small as this will help your oral hygiene.

Cindy Sousa Dental Nurse

  • If I could tell clients anything it would be don’t brush too hard. A lot of people mistake brushing vigorously with a good clean but actually pressing too hard can damage your teeth and gums. Ideally invest in an electric toothbrush too!

Hi, I am Cindy and I’ve worked here a year and a half. I’m a dental nurse and in my country (Venezuela) I am a qualified dentist. I need to take the Overseas registration examination before I can become a dentist in the UK.

When I was studying my parents really wanted me to become a dentist and I rebelled against this. I originally studied engineering before realising I loved everything to do with health and healthcare, I considered becoming a doctor but had to admit my parents were right and I just wanted to become a dentist. I tried to resist my parents but dentistry is right for me

I speak fluent Spanish and English which fits in nicely at Smilepod. it’s so multicultural here and you can learn about other counties and cultures and it’s a great mix of personalities

When it comes to treats I just say to clients look after your teeth. I love chocolate but the important thing is not to eat it all day long. Eat after your lunch then brush your teeth. Generally, wait ten minutes after eating chocolate and then ideally brush your teeth but if you cant brush you can use mouth wash.
Likewise, with wine it’s fine to drink a few glasses of wine a few days during the week or the weekend but not every day. Wait for half an hour before brushing if you are eating or drinking acidic food.

If I could tell clients anything it would be don’t brush too hard. A lot of people mistake brushing vigorously with a good clean but actually pressing too hard can damage your teeth and gums. Ideally, invest in an electric toothbrush and brush after eating meals

Maria Vicente – Dental Nurse

  • “If clients are anxious they just need to know they have the power, they are the boss. If they feel worried just ask us to stop and take a breath. We take our time so as long as you need is okay. We will always explain exactly what we are doing and what is going to happen. “

Hi, I am Maria and I have been working at Smilepod for 2 years now I’m a dental nurse and I used to work in every studio in the company. Now I am permanently in Bank. I speak Spanish, and I understand some Portuguese.

I decided to become a dental nurse after a great friend who is a dentist told me he thought I would be a good fit. I started the course and he was right I loved it.
I love the environment at Smilepod Bank. It is really open and we are all supported to do a good job. The dentists here are really nice and professional

If I could give clients one piece of advise it would try not to drink just fizzy drinks for the whole day. If you love a fizzy drink sometimes just keep it to certain occasions like during meals. It’s all about frequency, not quantity

If clients are anxious they just need to know they have the power, they are the boss. If they feel worried just ask us to stop and take a breath. We take our time so as long as you need is okay. We will always explain exactly what we are doing and what is going to happen.

When brushing your teeth my advice is always floss first because you take away the bacteria and then brush it away. Use an electric toothbrush and be thorough. Learn to love the clean sensation

Dr Raj Jabbal – Specialist Orthodontist

  • “My interests focus on adult orthodontics and attaining the balance between speed, efficiency and stability of treatment and aesthetics during the procedure. “

“My name is Raj, I’m your friendly neighbourhood orthodontist! I studied orthodontics at Kings College London and have a Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. My interests focus on adult orthodontics and attaining the balance between speed, efficiency and stability of treatment and aesthetics during the procedure. I love orthodontics and it is more than a career! It harnesses both the functional aspects of the oral environment and the beauty of the human condition. Patients contemplating orthodontics should take the step to have a consultation. The decision can only be made once all the information has been considered as contemporary options have revolutionised the aesthetics and efficiency of modern orthodontics.
