The key points for a good oral health are: cut down on sugar consumption, brush twice a day for two to three minutes, floss daily and go for regular check-ups as recommended by your dentist. Hi, I’m Ana, one of Smilepod’s dentists. I’ve worked for Smilepod for five years although I did some cover dentistry for a different location ten years ago. I began my career working in Brazil then moved to London about 13 years ago.
I’ve been fascinated by dentistry since I was 10 years old and had an accident and broke my teeth. At the time I had to go back and forth to the dentists’ lots of time and they thought it was unlikely I would be able to keep my teeth. It sounds scary, but I was really interested in how things worked in dentistry and teeth. Due to the skill of the dentist, I was able to keep my teeth so my dentist inspired me to go down this path.
I am especially interested in educating clients on prevention. Prevention is so much better than cure. Most dental problems don’t cause symptoms. As a dentist, I can see these problems and stop them in their tracks. That’s why attending your check-ups is so important to the health of your teeth.
As a hygienist one of the most important tips I can give is brush your teeth correctly. Ideally use an electric toothbrush – you will get a much better clean. Electric toothbrushes will do all the work for you – it takes the brushing out of brushing.
Hi, I’m Charley and I am one of your friendly dental hygienists. I’ve worked at Smilepod for six months in Canada Place and just recently moved to Holborn as well.
I’m a bit unusual because I actually did a law degree before I became a hygienist. After deciding I didn’t want to be a lawyer I was determined to make the right choice second time around. I was lucky enough to be admitted to take my dual diploma in hygiene therapy and I’ve never looked back. I love being a hygienist.

Electric toothbrushes will do all the work for you – it takes the brushing out of brushing. Plus they are timed so you brush for the full two minutes.
If you are using an electric toothbrush use ones with pressure sensors and timers. In terms of technique just brush gently.
I really recommend Smilepod as we make taking care of your teeth easy. We have online booking and Saturday openings. I know in a lot of practices it can be difficult to get appointments, especially with hygienists whereas we can usually fit you in this week.
Angi originally studied Economics but came to London 13 years ago in search of travel and adventure. After travelling the world for a year, she started a job as treatment coordinator at a dental practice and then joined Smilepod as a dental assistant. She qualified as a CQC registered manager at Smilepod Soho’s studio and then in 2017 became Smilepod’s first dental hygienist.
Having a great knowledge and understanding of all aspects of dentistry, Angi is a very empathic, outgoing and caring hygienist who can deal very well with the most anxious patients putting them at ease. She will give you tips on how to achieve the best possible oral care at home and make you feel great about your smile.
As long as you floss on a daily basis you are helping reduce the risk of gum disease. If you floss daily you can avoid so many problems. If you don’t floss it really can lead to issues. Flossing is an absolute must. If you don’t know how to floss ask me or another member of staff and we can show you.
Hi, I’m Onorina. I am one of Smilepod’s dental nurses. I’ve worked for Smilepod for a number of years now. I qualified in Romania as a general nurse and when I came to London I decided it was a great chance to move into dental nursing which was always my goal.
I work full time in Holborn and I really enjoy it here. It’s lovely and there are lots of nice places to go out around here. The studio is very welcoming– it feels like a family environment here.
If I could tell you anything it would be floss! As long as you floss on a daily basis you are helping reduce the risk of gum disease. If you floss daily you can avoid so many problems. Hello! My name is Ramona and I am the manager of Holborn Smilepod and probably the first person you will see. You are very welcome here – it’s a friendly place. I first came to London in 2011 to improve my English. I learned American style English and there are differences with the conversation. I then started working at Smilepod and took my dental nursing qualification. I always loved biology so dentistry was a really natural fit for me.

I’m a qualified nurse and I am currently studying hygiene and hope to be working as a dental hygienist in a few years. I am also studying radiography and I might do orthodontic nursing. I also plan to do another oral hygiene course in Slovakia over summer. I keep busy!
I’ve been in London for twelve years and I have a real passion for languages as well as dentistry. I aim to speak 10 languages fluently. I’m not there yet though. Currently, I speak Hungarian, Slovakian, German, English, Czech, Italian, and Polish. If you want to practice any of these on me during your visit I’m always happy to talk.
